The next STEM Conference for Girls is scheduled for Saturday, March 10, 2018 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the AVUHSD Palmdale Conference Center (PCC) - 1156 East Ave. S, Palmdale, CA 93550.
This conference allows students to hear from professionals who use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math daily to solve some of the world’s challenges. During the conference these professionals will share their career paths with you, answer your questions, and help guide you towards the tools you need to achieve your career goal. You will be given the opportunity to explore STEM careers through hands-on activities. You will leave with a better understanding of the many STEM career opportunities and the education path that will help you qualify for them.

Are you a current high school student who is considering a career in healthcare?
The AVC Palmdale Center's STEM Program will host a Medical Career Exploration Workshop for high school students this summer. The healthcare field offers a variety of opportunities. Through interactive activities this workshop facilitates the concepts of both single-rescuer and team basic life support.
The two-day workshop will introduce participants to various career options in healthcare and is open to all current high school students. Enrollment is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants who complete the full workshop will earn a 2-year, American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Will you be majoring in a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) related program at AVC? Are you facing challenges with succeeding in math? Get a head start through the STEM Summer Bridge Program. This program is designed for incoming and current AVC students with placement in Math 65, 70 and 102.
The STEM Summer Bridge Program Overview:

The program and materials are free and funded by a Hispanic-Serving Institution Title V STEM Grant.

The math session runs June 13-July 11, Monday through Thursday. Choose from 9a-1p or 11a-3p.

Both sessions take place at the AVC Palmdale Center, 1529 E. Palmdale Blvd.

A maximum of 72 students will be accepted into the program.
The STEM Summer Bridge Program Includes:

Student and parent orientation and support

Improvement of math skills

Group classroom activities

Advising on AVC STEM programs & assistance with an educational plan

An opportunity to build connections with AVC faculty and staff

2015 Summer Science Academy
Do you want to be a part of the future of space exploration? Rockets will be your vehicle for learning at the Monday–Friday June 8–June 12, 2015 8 a.m.–12 p.m. Palmdale Aerospace Academy 38060 20th Street East, Palmdale, CA 93550 The Summer Science Academy provides hands-on interactive activities for students entering the 7th and 8th grades this fall. Students explore engineering careers through activities that are designed to challenge them while making the learning of science fun. 2014 Summer Science Academy
Discover how fun aviation can be!
The Summer Science Academy provides hands-on interactive activities for current 7th and 8th graders. Students will follow the design process and see direct applications of science, technology, engineering and math as they build and test two model airplanes.

2014 STEM Summer Bridge Program at AVC Palmdale Center

Will you be majoring in a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) related program at AVC? Are you facing challenges with succeeding in math? Get a head start through the free 2014 STEM Summer Bridge Program.
This program is designed for graduating high-school seniors who are planning on attending Antelope Valley College. Students who have completed the AVC assessment and tested into Math 70 are being invited to participate. To participate, you must be interested in a career within the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.
Program Overview
The STEM Summer Bridge program this year will be from Monday, June 16 to Tuesday, July 17, 2014.
- The program and materials are free.
- Students may participate in the 9am – 1pm or 12pm to 4pm, Monday through Thursday.
- Both sessions take place at the AVC Palmdale Center, 1529 E. Palmdale Blvd.
- A maximum of 48 students will be accepted into the program.

Who Should Apply for the STEM Summer Bridge Program?
Students who:
- Are a graduating senior or 2014 GED recipient
- Completed the Antelope Valley College math assessment with placement into Math 70 or lower
- Are interested in science, technology, engineering or math
- Want to learn more about STEM careers
- Are interested in attending AVC

Join us for the next STEM Conference for Girls
SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, March 15, 2014
The next STEM Conference for Girls Conference will be held at the Center for Career Technical Education in Palmdale for 6th – 12th grade girls. Students will have fun with engineering and science hands-on activities. Students will also meet AVC engineering students and graduates, speak to STEM professionals, and learn more about STEM.
Parents are also invited to attend! Parents will be engaged by learning why STEM careers are important, learn how they can support their students in pursuing STEM careers, and speak directly with AVC education advisors.
