AVC Students - Apply Here:

Summer 2025

  • Applications will begin to be evaluated after Spring 2025 grades are released in June.

Fall 2025

  • This application will be released in late July 2025.

This application is for Antelope Valley College students enrolled in the current semester. Our program helps you stay on track to finish the courses in your Education Plan within two years (or less, depending on your degree or certificate). Because resources are limited, we give priority to students carrying heavier course loads and showing steady academic progress. Students are asked to submit an application each semester they are in need of support services as their needs may have changed within the past few months. If changes need to be made during the current semester we can update applications manually and ask students to request this via email.

How we determine eligibility:
Services are available to students who:

  • Are eligible and in financial need according to your financial aid application status (If a student does not agree with their FAFSA status they may submit an appeal to the Financial Aid office or indicate if they have a special status in their Basic Needs application that would possibly allow for an exception to be made.)

  • Are enrolled in courses on their approved Education Plan

  • Have not previously earned a degree within the past 3 years

  • Have attempted fewer than 120 units (exceptions will be made for students in specialty programs that require a higher unit amount)

Processing & Contact:

  • Applications are processed within two weeks, starting after prior-semester grades post.

    • Programs are separate and students will receive individual email notification(s) for service(s) they are approved for.

    • Housing requests usually takes longer than 2 weeks to process depending on the situation and if the student has the documentation needed readily available.

  • If you haven’t heard back in that time, please check your email (including spam) or contact us at basicneeds@avc.edu.

  • We accept only one application per student. To modify your requested services, email us at basicneeds@avc.edu.
