
Associated Student Organization (ASO): Elections

It's 2025-2026 Election Season!
Elections will be held April 22, 2025 - April 24, 2025. Polls close at midnight (12 AM). Voting will be conducted online through myAVC. All currently enrolled students are eligible to vote. The winning candidate will be announced one week after the election, at 10 AM in the HUB. Results will be posted in the HUB. All positions will be recognized and announced at the May Board meeting.
Are you interested in running for Student Trustee or Executive Board/Senator position on AVC's Associated Student Organization? Here's some helpful information.
Executive Board/Senator Positions
- Complete the Declaration Letter of Intent for Executive Board/Senator position(s).
- Clearly indicate what position you are applying for.
Requirements:
- Maintain active enrollment in a minimum of five (5) semester units.
- Remain in good standing with the college district throughout the term of service.
- Adhere to the Election Code as stated on Letter of Intent.
- Meet with the Director of Student Development or designee.
- Submit a statement of no more than 100 words on what you believe you can contribute to ASO and AVC.
Student Trustee Position
- Complete the Declaration Letter of Intent for Student Trustee.
Requirements:
- Maintain active enrollment in a minimum of five (5) semester units.
- Remain in good standing with the college district throughout the term of service.
- Adhere to the Election Code, Board Policy, and Administrative Procedures as related to the Student Trustee as stated on Letter of Intent and policies as written.
- Meet with the Director of Student Development or designee.
- Submit a statement of no more than 100 words on what you believe you can contribute to the student body and AVC.
- This statement will be printed in a sample ballot and posted on the AVC website for students to view.
Campaigning:
- Campaigning will begin as soon as the candidate meets with the Director of Student Development and is Certified to run for the position.
- All campaign material must be removed a week after the election.
- No campaign material shall be posted within 25 feet of open computer lab or official voting location.
- Four hundred (400)-Approved flyers
- Copies-the Student Development office/ASO desk will print the following allowable copies:
- 100-black & white
- 50-color
- An additional 100 black & white copies are allowed if paper is supplied.
- ONLY stamped and approved flyers may be reproduced & posted.
- Flyers shall not exceed 20"x14".
- Flyers are not permitted on car windows or in faculty mailboxes.
- Cannot be posted on glass doorways.
- Not allowed to be posted in classrooms.
- Copies-the Student Development office/ASO desk will print the following allowable copies:
- Four (4)-Approved Posters per candidate.
- Two (2)-Approved Banners per candidate (48"x10').
- Banners can be posted in the cafeteria and HUB.
- Approved Handouts are allowed.
- Speaking Sessions
- Clubs: obtain permission and approval from club and club advisor.
- Classrooms: obtain permission from instructor must speak prior to and/or immediately after instruction.
