Take A Deep Dive into the World of Cryptozoology
October 25th, 2024 | 06:00 pm - 08:00 pm

Students, faculty, and the community are invited to explore the field of cryptozoology, the study of mysterious creatures such as Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and Mothman during two presentations by Antelope Valley College biology professor Joshua Shipp.

The first presentation will examine some of the most well-known cryptids from around the world and delve into the history of cryptozoology, including its relationship to traditional zoology.

The second presentation will focus on the depiction of cryptids and monsters in film, featuring creatures such as giant insects, dragons, werewolves, zombies, vampires, and mermaids. Following this will be a discussion of what science and cryptozoology can teach us about the existence of these fascinating beings.

Join us in this exploration of cryptids and their place in both folklore and science.
