José Hernández, University of California Regent and CEO of Tierra Luna Engineering, LLC, and former NASA Astronaut, will be presenting a keynote speech at Antelope Valley College as part of the Equity Speaker Series.

Hernández has an extensive background in aerospace and engineering. He served at NASA Johnson Space Center from 2001 to 2011 as an astronaut, legislative analyst, branch chief, and materials research engineer.

Before NASA, Hernández spent 17 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he worked on the X-ray laser project, co-developed the first full-field digital mammography system, and contributed to nuclear non-proliferation efforts as Deputy Program Manager in the Russian Highly Enriched Uranium Implementation Program.
