Mission Statement

The Mission of the Veterans Resource Center is to provide assistance through education, certification, and guidance to active duty servicemembers, reservists, veterans and their dependents in achieving their educational objectives and to effectively promote the retention, graduation, and transfer of our student population.

Antelope Valley College refrains from providing any commission, bonus, or other incentive payment based directly or indirectly on securing enrollments or federal financial aid (including TA funds) to any persons or entities engaged in any student recruiting, admission, activities, or making decisions regarding the award of student financial assistance.

Antelope Valley College refrains from high-pressure recruitment tactics for the purpose of securing Service member enrollments.

In the event AVC's Cohort Default Rate (CDR) rises above the national average, the result will be displayed on this webpage.


AVC is a Title IV school and thereby abides by the readmission policy for servicemembers.  The readmission requirements apply to servicemembers who perform service in the uniformed services, whether voluntary or involuntary, in the Armed Forces, including service as a member of the National Guard or Reserve, on active duty for training, or full-time National Guard duty under Federal authority (but not State authority), for a period of more than 30 consecutive days under a call or order to active duty or more than 30 consecutive days.

Tuition Assistance:

  • Tuition Assistance (TA) is the term used for financial aid given by military branches to active duty and reserve service members for college courses.  
     
  • Service members should speak with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their military branch prior to enrolling at AVC.

Tuition Refunds:

  • 16 week class:  Eligible for 100% refund the first two weeks from the class start date.
  • 12 week class:  Eligible for 100% refund the first week from the class start date.
  • 8 week class:  Eligible for 100% refund the first week from the class start date.
  • No refunds (0%) will be made for full-term length classes after the end of the second week of instruction or when the course is 60% complete.
  • Summer refunds are only issued for drops during the first week.
