Antelope Valley College professors Lena Coleman and Joshua Shipp will tackle popular misconceptions about nature and what is considered natural during a talk in the upcoming Biological MythBusters series.
Coleman and Shipp will explore different beliefs of what is natural versus what is not natural and debunk commonly held assumptions that natural is always good, while artificial is always bad.
The professors will address a range of popular questions asked in society, such as: Are natural chemicals safer than their artificial counterparts? Are GMOs dangerous? Do natural herbs and holistic cures outshine modern drugs in treating illnesses?
AVC students, faculty, and members of the community who are eager to learn more about the science of natural and artificial are welcome to attend.
Faculty can register for the talk through Vision Resource Center.
