The American Red Cross will be hosting a special blood drive at Antelope Valley College to raise awareness about Sickle Cell Disease.
Student donors will receive a lunch voucher for the AVC Cafeteria and all donors will receive an Amazon gift card.
More than 100,000 people in the United States suffer from Sickle Cell Disease, a blood disease which disproportionately affects individuals of African descent and requires regular blood transfusions to prevent life-threatening complications.
Only one in three African American blood donors are a match for people with sickle cell. Make an appointment or walk-in to donate and help those in need, then enjoy lunch.
