Undocumented Student Action Week

The Dreamers Center to host several events aimed at raising awareness and cultivate community connections for undocumented students from October 15-18 for Undocumented Student Action Week (USAW).

Students and faculty are invited to join The Dreamers Center for the opportunity to participate in creative activities, learn of important issues faced by undocumented students and show support.

Kickoff Event: Colors of Wellness Through Painting | 10:30 a.m-12 p.m. | Fine Arts Quad

  • Join us for a creative and relaxing workshop where participants will explore the connection between art and mental well-being. No artistic experience needed. All supplies will be provided. Seating for this event is limited. Please RSVP, and you'll receive confirmation if a spot is available.

Writing Workshop with Yosimar Reyes | 2-3:30 p.m. | The HUB La Plaza

  • A Workshop on Joy and Courage by and for Communities of Color. Through writing exercises and storytelling, we'll delve into our past to understand and appreciate our lives as unique historical archives. Seating for this workshop is limited. Please RSVP, and you'll receive confirmation if a spot is available.

Keynote: Voices of Resilience - Yosimar Reyes on Life as an Undocumented Writer | 4-5:30 p.m. | Fine Arts 162

  • Yosimar Reyes will be our featured keynote speaker, providing a 45-minute lecture and a 15-minute Q&A about his experiences as a writer documenting his life as an undocumented immigrant.

Join us for an informative workshop designed to empower undocumented entrepreneurs. Learn strategies for navigating the workforce, building your business, and accessing resources to thrive in today’s economy.

UndocuTransfer Workshop | 3-4:30 p.m. | Student Services Building 236

Learn how to successfully transfer to a university as an undocumented student. This workshop will provide essential information on admissions, financial aid, and available support services to help you achieve your educational goals.

Friday, October 18
 

UndocuAlly Training* | 12- 2 p.m. | Zoom

*Provides FPD Standard 1 credit for faculty.

This training equips faculty and staff with the knowledge and tools to support undocumented students. Learn about their unique challenges and how to foster an inclusive, supportive campus environment.

This initiative offers an important platform for the campus community to learn about and support undocumented students.
