Antelope Valley College Theatre Arts Department presents: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum

The AVC Theatre Arts Department, with special arrangement through Music Theatre International (MTI), will perform A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, May 1, 2, & 3 at 8 p.m., and May 4 at 2 p.m., at the AVC Performing Arts Theatre.

In the department’s first full-length musical theatre production since 2004, they are pleased to present A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum to audiences near and far. Since the opening of AVC’s beautiful state-of-the-art Performing Arts Theatre, the Department is thrilled to entertain you and “open up the curtain…there’s something for every-bawdy, a comedy tonight!”

Winner of several Tony Awards, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is musical comedy at its best. With music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Forum is a non-stop laugh-fest. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors, young lovers, cunning servants, brave soldiers and plenty of beautiful showgirls. “This unforgettable, hysterical musical allows a terrific ensemble of comedic actors to shine—‘something for everyone, a comedy tonight!’"- Music Theatre International

In his Antelope Valley College directorial debut, Ken Merckx stages this anything-goes, delightfully entertaining musical theatre romp! In a time of high gas prices, power plant debates, and police car chases, come on out and experience a rollicking good time! Book by Burt Shevlove and Larry Gelbart. Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Originally produced on Broadway by Harold S. Prince.
