Community College Survey of Student Engagement
Students in Computer Lab

This spring, Antelope Valley College is participating in the Community College Survey of Student Engagement (CCSSE), a national survey of institutional practices and student behaviors. This survey is an initiative of CCCSE at The University of Texas at Austin. CCSSE results will help us better understand our students’ college experiences. In consideration of student and faculty time, the last time we participated in this survey was in 2022.

Research supports that the more actively engaged students are with college faculty and staff, with other students, and with the subject matter being learned, the more likely they are to persist in their college studies and to achieve at higher levels. Identifying what our students do in and out of the classroom, knowing their goals, and understanding their external responsibilities helps us ensure an environment that enhances student learning, development, and retention, as well as provide evidence of the impact of AVC’s programs and services.

The CCSSE surveys will be administered starting March 25 through April 12, 2024 in person, as well as via email to our online only classes, for randomly selected classes by the Center to ensure a representative sample. Instructors whose classes are sampled will receive specific information from institutional research closer to the administration date.
